Four semifinalists are in the running to become College of the Desert’s next permanent superintendent/president — among them, the college’s acting superintendent.

COD received 73 applications from across the country after relaunching its superintendent search in January, which had been halted due to a “breach of confidentiality.” The search has been led by AGB Search.

The semifinalists for COD’s permanent superintendent role, announced on Tuesday evening, are:

• Monica Chahal, interim president at Clovis Community College in Fresno
• Val Martinez Garcia, acting superintendent/president at COD
• Kimberlee S. Messina, president at Spokane Falls Community College in Washington
• Don Moya-Miller, vice president/assistant superintendent at Río Hondo College in Whittier
