• Former Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden has been appointed chair of the College of the Desert Board of Trustees, effective immediately. Oden, who represents Area 3—which includes Palm Springs—will serve as chair through the remainder of his trustee term, which runs until 2028. During the same meeting, the Board also approved Rubén Pérez as vice chair and Mark Meyer as clerk. Trustees were confirmed for key committee liaison roles, including Joel Kinnamon for the Foundation and Mary Jane Sanchez-Fulton for the County Committee. As chair, Oden will lead the governing body responsible for setting policy and overseeing programs that support student success and educational opportunities throughout the Coachella Valley community.
